Case of the Month

NITRO
Nitro, a 17 month old spayed female Doberman Pinscher, presented for examination of
multiple, rapidly growing masses on her lip margins, gums, and roof of the mouth. The
diagnosis of viral papillomatosis (warts) was made on visual examination alone. This is
usually a disease of young dogs, and the lesions typically resolve with no treatment in 2-3
months. Bleeding or ulcerated lesions are sometimes removed by scalpel or (preferably)
laser surgery. Nitro's resolved with no specific treatment within approximately 8 weeks.
